Mapusa City lift GOA-L Cup

In an exciting finale, Mapusa City overcame Mapusa United 3-2 via the tie-breaker to lift the seventh edition of the GOA-L Cup at Saraswat ground, Khorlim, Mapusa on Saturday. The match was goalless at the end of regulation time.
The fast paced five-a-side contest was organised to bring an end to the Grassroots football camp which was organised by the GOA Learning Soccer School (GOA-L), from the 28th of April till the 30th of May.
In total thirty-two wards between the ages of 10 to 14 participated in the month long camp. The training was based on the English FA Youth syllabus, which focused on technical, social, psychological, and physical aspects.
The tactical element was covered, along with laws of the game and nutrition. A drawing competition to design a football jersey was also held.
On the final day, Vice-President of the Saraswat education society, Pradip Joshi was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
Family Members of the participant’s contested an entertaining tie-breaker competition, before the final match.
In the 5-a-side final, Chaitanya Mashelkar (captain), Vedang Joshi, Harsh Pilankar, Viraj Gaonkar and Hrutwik Palyekar made up the winning team. Hrutwik was adjudged the player of the tournament. Vaibhav Pilankar was awarded the most improved player of the camp and Saish Nipanikar beat off stiff opposition to win the juggling contest. All the participants received certificates.
