Mapusa Boy’s lift GOA-L Cup VI

Player of the tournament, Mayur Pilankar scored the winning goal as Mapusa Boy’s lifted the sixth edition of the GOA-L Cup at Saraswat ground, Khorlim, Mapusa on Friday.
The fast paced three-a-side contest was organised to bring an end to the youth football camp which was organised by the GOA Learning Soccer School (GOA-L), from the 1st till the 31st of May. Aldrid Da Costa conducted the training, along with assistant coach Gajanan Kauthankar.
In total twenty-six wards between the ages of 10 to 14 participated in the month long camp. The training was based on the English grassroots model, which focused on technical, social, psychological, and physical aspects.
The tactical element was also covered as the ward’s moved from playing small sided games at the start of the course to eventually combining well in an 11-a-side format, as their skill proficiency gradually increased.
On the final day the parents were the chief guests and gave away the prizes. The adults also contested an eagerly watched tie-breaker competition, where the mothers and sisters performed just as well as the fathers and brothers.
In the 3-a-side competition, Mayur Pilankar, Amogh Mishal and Swaraj Samant made up the winning trio. Mayur was adjudged the player of the tournament, Amogh was awarded the most improved player and Omkar Shinkre won the juggling prize. All the participants were given certificates.
